Twinning: Spilsby twinned with Fresnay sur Sarthe

Fresnay sur SartheSpilsby is twinned with the mediaeval town of Fresnay sur Sarthe in the Pays de Loire region of France and with the town of Bassum in Lower Saxony, Germany.. The official twinning charter between Spilsby and Fresnay was signed in 1988. Over the years many successful visits have been made between Spilsby and Fresnay by sporting teams, musical groups and people interested in experiencing a different culture and making new friends. The Charter between Spilsby and Bassum was signed in October 2010.

Everyone who lives in Spilsby and the surrounding villages is very welcome to become involved in the 'Spilsby & District Twinning Association'. It doesn't matter whether or not you can speak any French or German or how young or old you are. All you need is a desire to have new experiences and make new friends. We regularly organise social/fundraising activities and visits between Spilsby and Fresnay or Bassum.

Recently Spilsby and Fresnay have been involving the youth football teams to play for the J&A Trophy. At the moment the score stand as Fresnay 2 Spilsby 1. Always away victories! It’s hoped that a team can visit Bassum soon to involve the young people of the town in Twinning activities.
