The Franklin Hall was officially opened on 2001 July 19 by Miss T. M. Maddison MBE, a descendent of Sir John Franklin. Miss Maddison spoke about Sir John and about the Hall which was originally known as the Drill Hall. When she was a little girl the Hall was used as a hospital during the First World War; she went with her mother to see the wounded soldiers.

She said that she was pleased that it had been restored and was to bear the name of her famous ancestor.

James Boulton thanked all those who had worked on the refurbishment which has taken about 14 months.

After the opening ceremony everyone enjoyed some tradional Lincolnshire fare.

Dennett's Ices produced a special ice cream for a special occasion' Bread and cakes were supplied by Franklin House bakery.
