| Knight School – Lesson Plans
Week One Enrolment – Children will attend the school with a parent whereupon they will be separated. The child will receive their knight school title which will be theirs for the next two months. They will answer to that title i.e. Galahad The child will also be presented with their apprentice garb, this being a white T Shirt with the knight school logo. The children will be given rudimentary drill instruction to enable them to line up, and present themselves in an orderly manner before the court the following week. They will be taught how to file in and out and how to address the staff. The parents meanwhile will be addressed by the head knight who will outline the lesson plans to them and explain the necessity for all members of the household to behave in a responsible manner in order that their child does not become confused. The parents will be forbidden to swear in the home and will encourage tidiness and cleanliness. They will also be taught the grading system applicable whilst the knight is an attendee. This is the opportunity for parents to volunteer their services and to question any of the practices in the lesson plans and if necessary to withdraw their child from the scheme. The first session is administrative in nature. Week Two The code of courtesy is taught, please, thank you, respect for themselves. An inspection of appearance will take place and the child should expect to accept constructive criticism. Week Three Respect for others and the environment. Strengths and weaknesses. Week Four The code of manliness is taught, a skill at archery and sport. Hand, eye coordination. Week Five Manliness and obedience. Drill session teaching teamwork. Week Six The code of gentleness, academic ability and the ability to make a model will be explored. Week Seven Gentleness, further academic study focussing on morality. The game of chivalry will be played. Week Eight If the student has acquired sufficient credits and has demonstrated willingness to learn and improvement in personal standards, then they shall be knighted and gifted their suit of armour or maidens dress. A ceremony will take place at Tattershall Castle and a dignitary invited to knight the young people. A drill display will take place and refreshment provided. There will be awards for other skills if any individual has attained an exceptional standard. Knight school aims to strive for excellence and there is an element of competition throughout, it is therefore likely that one or more students may attain additional awards. The progress of each student is carefully monitored and they will be aware of their standing during the training. Credits will be given for ability but will be lost should there be any disrespect shown either at the knight school, state school, home or in public. The staff in the Knight School reserve the right to terminate the attendance
of any child should they become a disruptive influence or should they
not respond to training in an appropriate manner. |
