| My Spilsby - Opinions and Comments about Spilsby and its Website |
What do you think about Spilsby? What do you think of our Website? Whether you are resident or a visior, here is your opportunity to have your say... |
| Hi,
I am researching my paternal surname of Zesland and so far have found that most of my ancestors back to the late 18th Century originated from the area. Most seem to have been born, raised, lived loved and died in or near to Spilsby. Stickford and Stickney figure a lot as well, with locations as often being named parish or district as much as a town name. My limb of the tree "migrated" to what is now West Yorkshire and I would appreciate a response from anyone with a similar interest so we can swap and compare details. Please email Paulzdeman@msn.com Many thanks prompt service, I refer to the website a lot, it is so good for helping new comers and visitors to the area. What a lovely town and super website! The SPILSBY website is very user friendly with a full list of available
services and other activities well done. I think your website is very good indeed...clear, concise and colourful....well
done! As an old Spilsbian, I was having a regular read of the website and found
(again) the pages about the islands off South Australia (the Joseph Banks
group). So I decided to find out more about Spilsby Island, and found
a very interesting website - apparently it is the only island in the group
that is not a nature reserve, and you can buy an allotment (a 1/41 st
share). If you are interested, go to www.spilsbyisland.com/spilsby/default.htm Do you have any jobs available? Civil engineering? An Interesting Town and equally interesting site. I am reaserching the

- for family history purposes I am looking for relatives. The Picker Family Bible has been handed over to a family member and the
Worsdale sampler query has been solved by John Platt. John has written
a fascinating book about Withern. A P.C. Worsdale is mentioned in the
1881 Census living in a house next to the Methodist Chapel. Thank you
Webmaster for publishing these two queries. Re: Janet Gordon's enquiry about Worsdale - Police Constable Worsdale
was the first resident policeman in Withern c1880. He is mentioned in
a new book - 'Withern, the story of a Lincolnshire parish' - just published
by Louth Museum [ISBN 0 9539533 3 5]. Among names in the book, such as
farmers and traders, are the school pupils in 1871. I spent a weekend in spilsby, and was very impressed with the local skateboard

a pupil at Withern National School near Alford in 1881. In what way do you feel St James Parish Church could better meet the needs of Spilsby and district? What are the needs of our community? Fr Peter Coates peter@candleshoe.freeserve.co.uk (Spilsby Vicarage) Monday, October 13, 2003 This website captures The Spirit of Spilsby both past and present, detailing its historic connections with Lord Tennyson, Sir John Franklin, the explorer, and King Henry IV, as well as the current activities and interest groups, providing a compact profile giving a wealth of information. S B. (from Burgh le Marsh) 2003 September 22 I am very impressed with the website of Spilsby. I was quite excited
to see a website like this for Spilsby. I live in Canada, but have visited
Spilsby. I was there because this is where my maternal grandmother came
from. We have a tall case grandfather clock signed WM Mackinder, Spilsby. The
bell is signed and dated Sep 3rd, 1830. Can you provide any information
on its maker and history? I am writing from Singapore. I am currently researching the history of
surveys and mapping in Singapore. Dear Sir, Do you have any information about The Rev Thomas Walker Sale
who died 20th Sept 1873 at Spilsby. I believe he was the vicar there and
was married to Lydia Rawlinson Walker. Do you know anything about the
family? Or about his as vicar? I am busy researching the Walker family
who were very rich and lived in Arnos Grove ,Southgate Middx. Lydia was
one of the ten children of John Walker who died in 1824. If you do have
information or local history books on the area and the parish or church
I should be very pleased to hear from you. what is the phone number for the george hotel in spilsby? 2nd Spilsby Scout Group have spaces in the Beaver Scout section (6 to

family, James Chr 1807 at partney and Henry T, lived at Spilsby and at
Langton Hall, Kirkby in Ashfield, near Spilsby. I've been surfing, trying to find information about Somersby Hall. Can
you tell me, please, if there's any record of a family TWELLS being there
- about 1790 - 1815? The other name I have is WHITE. Was it ever owned
by the WHITE family, maybe before 1790? If your email is just to do with
the site, could you please pass it to someone who might be able to help?
