| APSE - Youth Strategy |
|
Apse (Actively Promoting Spilsby’s Environment), are a voluntary organisation with a vision to create a prosperous town that is a safe and pleasant place, to live work and visit. This strategy has been written in consultation with the police community beat officer, the local schools, the crime prevention panel, and representatives of local businesses and town council. It has also been written most importantly with the needs and aspirations of the resident young people in mind. It is acknowledged that the majority of young people in Spilsby are decent law abiding citizens who wish to make a positive contribution to the town. There are however a disappointing minority who wish to spoil it and act in an anti social manner. This strategy recognises the needs of the minority but places an emphasis on the majority who are keen to learn and develop. We salute and support their endeavours. This strategy aims to deliver an accessible and fair service to all young people in the district and Apse will work in partnership not only with youth groups but with all partners in both the voluntary and statutory sectors to bring about the best possible provision for our children. The Aim > We want our children to be healthy > We want our children to be safe > We want our children to achieve > We want our children to contribute The aim can be achieved by using three strands each of which has subsequent action plans. 1. Engaging with children and young people Apse hopes to build and maintain positive relationships with the schools, young people and parents by informing them of our activities and involving them where appropriate with the intention that they may become inspired to become an active participant, if not leader of future activity. 2. Early Intervention Apse will support all initiatives designed to deter a young person from the path of crime, educate young people on the effects of crime and promote active citizenship reinforcing individual responsibilities to the community. Apse will provide young people, their parents and carers with appropriate information to help prevent crime and disorder.
Apse will support initiatives designed to prepare our young people for transition into the workplace. Apse Responsibilities The chairman will be the first point of contact for schools in the district, albeit the committee may appoint a schools liaison official to coordinate activity. A newsletter will be provided to schools and youth organisations detailing forthcoming events. Apse will ensure that their membership are appropriately trained and strictly adhere to the child protection policy. Apse members will treat young people with understanding, respect and will value their contribution to Spilsby society. |
